September 20, 1941 - July 15, 2020
Ronald Thomas Mitchell passed away peacefully near family at Cottonwoods Care Home in Kelowna, BC on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.
He was born in Fraser Lake, BC on September 20, 1941, to Mary and Patrick Mitchell. As a young man, he grew up in Telkwa, BC spending summers working on the family commercial fishing boat out of the NP Cannery in Prince Rupert. He later moved to the Lower Mainland area where he excelled in the accounting profession, eventually purchasing a hay farm in Keremeos where he raised his family with his now ex-wife Jean. This is where he really enjoyed the farm life and hauling truck loads of hay to his loyal customers in the Chilliwack area.
He is survived by his children Colleen Bennett (Al) and Rob Mitchell (Rena); grandchildren Cameron, Kerry, Connor, and Reanne; his sister Elaine (Jim); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant brother Gary; parents Mary and Patrick; brother Albert; sister Doris; and grandson Nicholas.
The family thanks the wonderful Cottonwoods staff for providing opportunities for the family to be with Dad at the end, during this unusual time.
The family will be holding a private gathering at a later date.
