TAM, Roberta Ann

January 15, 1939 - November 4, 2016

In loving memory of Roberta Ann (Dougherty) Tam, who passed away peacefully at the age of 77 at Cascades Lodge, on November 4, 2016. Roberta began her life in Vernon Bridge, PEI, daughter to Marie and Dennis Dougherty. She went on to study nursing at St. Martha in Antigonish, NS. It was there that she met her loving husband, Michael. They then moved to Toronto, where they married in 1968. After a short stop in Portage La Prairie they would move to Chilliwack where they raised their three beautiful children. Roberta was deeply involved in the Catholic church and was a long time member of the Christian Women’s League. She took great pride in her work as a Eucharistic minister, and enjoyed all the friendships she made along the way. When she was not dedicating herself to the parish, she could be found at the rink, pool or field volunteering and cheering on her children in their various athletic endeavours, or at the office, helping her husband with his medical practice. Roberta loved to cook and always found joy in learning a new recipe, which led to hosting and entertaining large dinner parties for any and all who would attend. She enjoyed music, a good book, and her door was always open for a cup of tea and a story, told with her unique Island sense of humour; which always brought smiles all laughter to all around her. Roberta was predeceased by her husband Dr. Michael Siu Kee Tam, her parents, Marie and Dennis Dougherty and her twin brother Robert. She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her three children, Vanessa (Antonella), Jason (Charlene) and Natasha, her sister Maureen, brother in law Joseph (Fanny), nieces Lesa and Irene (Peter), her three grandchildren Elliot, Rory and Clayton, and her mother-in-law, Bernadette Tam.

A special thanks to the staff at Cascades and all those who visited and helped care for Roberta over the last 6 years. You were an integral part of her extended family. Thank you for your care and support. She is now at peace with our Lord. A funeral service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s cemetery with a reception at St. Mary’s hall afterward. Arrangements made by Henderson's.
