1941-2021 ~ Dr. Dalton, Mrs. B, Berta, Birdie, little mum. Firecracker. After a lifetime of filling the world with song, Roberta left us oh so quietly on a Friday morning. Two days later, her last & best Westie dog Tucker followed where we couldn't.
She lived with her heart wide open in Winnipeg, Bella Bella, Eriksdale, Haida Gwaii, Terrace, Kamloops, & Chilliwack; became a doctor at a time when very few women did; & married a man who remained dazzled by her till the end. She would have told you, with one of the last words dementia took from her, that her life was "beauuuutiful."
To all the good doctors who worked with her, or cared for her, or both (Lori); to the palliative care team who gave us as much time as they could: so much gratitude. Her husband Bryan, kids (Margret & David), siblings (in-law, out-law, & otherwise), niblings, & many friends (Owls, you know you are first & best) will miss her endlessly.
In her memory, go on & eat that extra Xmas cookie, laugh till you almost pee, sing made-up songs at your kids, tell a naughty joke, have a heart bigger than your tiny body. Bake something for that lonely neighbour down the street. Hold someone's hand after their words are gone.
Be a good'lt & watch out for the bums, Bert. Ride on, my girl.
