Robert Wesley Manning lost his battle with cancer on September 28, 2009 at Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 34 years.

Bob was born in Chilliwack General Hospital on June 2, 1975. He travelled with his family, mother Judi, father, Bob Sr. and brother, Paul during his father’s military career. Bob made so many friends along the way. He played many different sports during his formative years and he was a natural athlete. He continued to be involved with sports his entire life. Bob returned to Chilliwack in 1991 to finish high school, graduating from Sardis Secondary in 1993.

He met Amanda in 1998 and knew from the start she was “the one”. They spent 10 amazing years together, accomplishing many wonderful things together. Bob’s job at Johnston Packers was a source of pride for him. He made many positive contributions to JP over the years. Bob’s kids were the lights of his life. He always said that his only aspiration, from the time he was a child, was to be a husband and father and he excelled at both of these. Although his life was much too short, he lived it to the fullest.

Bob will be forever remembered by his wife and soul-mate Amanda, and the two most important people in his life, his son, Kai and daughter, Cassidy; his father, Bob Manning Sr; and mother, Judi Shelton; brother Paul (Nina) Manning; nephew, Owen and niece Tia; many family members, east to west, across Canada; and the amazing number of close friends and extended family who are left to mourn his passing.

A drop in visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009 from 3:00 – 5:00pm at Woodlawn Mt, Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack followed by a Celebration of Bob’s Life beginning at 5:00 pm at the Best Western Rainbow Country Inn, 43971 Industrial Way, Chilliwack, BC.

A very heartfelt “Thank you”, to all the wonderful nurses and support staff at Chilliwack General, as well as the Cancer Centre in Abbotsford. Bob received some incredibly compassionate care from both hospital’s staff.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society 9136 Young Rd, Chilliwack V2P 4R4 (www.cancer.ca) would be welcome.
