March 20, 1937 - May 24, 2023
In loving memory ~
Robert James Duncan passed away on May 24, 2023, at Holmberg House Hospice Residence at age 86 years. He was born on March 20, 1937, in New Westminster.
Bert leaves behind his loving wife Jean of 62 years, Son Brad (Kim), Daughters Debbie (Rob) Forde, and Tracey (Scott) Johnson, and sister Beverly (Craig) Murray.
8 grandchildren: Jenna (Jeff), Christie, Michael (Shania), Alexia, Brooke (Tyler), Carter, Kaelin, and McKenzie. 7 great-grandchildren: Audrey, Emma, Scarlett, Georgia, Michael Jr., Wynne, and Alaina. He was predeceased by his mother Muriel, father Bill, sister Evelyn McAfee, and brother Donnie.
Bert spent all his life in Agassiz and Harrison Mills areas. Part of the pioneer Duncan family farmers, dairy farming was his first love. At the same time, he spent 35 . years with Corrections Canada. There were always farm chores to do at the end of his "job" shift. Summer holidays were spent camping at Okanagan Lake with his sister Evelyn and brother-in-law, Ken McAfee, and their family. Bert was also an avid vegetable gardener harvesting up to 800 lbs of potatoes each year. Cucumbers & Zucchini were plentiful and supplied our families and many others as well.
After retirement from Corrections, fun times fishing on the Fraser River with family and friends were much enjoyed, especially when the catch was good.
Family get-togethers were an important part of Bert's life. He will be sorely missed.
