Robert (Bob) KLASSEN

Robert (Bob) Klassen was born March 11, 1944 in Petersfield, England and passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 at Chilliwack General Hospital, after a short period with cancer.

Bob was predeceased by his father Peter; and mother Dorothy.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Victoria; son Donald (Arlene); and daughter Patricia (Douglas); four grandchildren, Courtnay, Nikita, Noah, and Robyn; two brothers, Peter (Pam) and Michael (Lou); one sister Penny (Joe) Leroux; two brother-in-laws, Don (Diane), and Robbie (Sharon); as well as five nieces and four nephews.

Bob has resided in the Chilliwack area since 1966. During this time Bob served as a volunteer fireman/fire commissioner in Harrison Hot Springs, was a school trustee for the District of Kent, and served in his community as a Cub Master and baseball coach for many years. Bob was a proud member of the Ionic-Kent Lodge No. 19, and was also the Past Master of the Kent Lodge 132 Agassiz. He was a Past Patron of Chilliwack Chapter No. 49 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Bob was also a member of the Gizeh Shriners of British Columbia and Fraser Valley Shrine Club No. 11 and Past Associate Guardian of Bethel 21 of Job’s Daughters Chilliwack, British Columbia. Bob had recently retired from Corrections Canada, where he worked for 25 years. He will be missed by his family and his many friends.

All are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, Jan. 10, 2003 at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Grande Lodge Cancer Car Fund would be appreciated.

A special and sincere thank you to the wonderful and dedicated nurses and staff on the 4th Floor of Chilliwack Hospital, and the many doctors who attended him.
