Ritchie passed away on July 24, 2002 at the age of 69 years. He is survived by his loving family, wife Katherine (Kay); son Tony Elvin of Hope; daughter Brenda (Jason) Giffin of Abbotsford; granddaughters, Nikita and Katelyn Giffin of Abbotsford; sister Elaine Watson of Sardis; plus numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ritchie was born and raised in Trail, and moved to Chilliwack at the age of 15. Ritchie and Kay moved to Hope to start their life together. He worked for Dairyland for over 40 years, retired at the age of 61 years. A memorial service was held July 30, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Branch No. 228, with Reverend Ken Wotherspoon officiating. Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Kidney Foundation will be greatly appreciated in Ritchie’s memory.
