It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gwyn at Nanaimo Regional Hospital due to complications from Pulmonary Fibrosis at the age of 67.
Gwyn will be greatly missed by his wife Diane, of 39 years; son, Neil (Jess); daughter, Debbie Frose (Rob); grandchildren: Aly, Chelsea and Holden Frose, Alara Joiner and Jesse’s children, Mikayla, Hayden and Jordan; brother Lawrence (Joan); brother-in-law, Doug Bishop (Meredith); sister-in-law, Debbie Stevenson; many nieces and nephews as well as all his fishing and hunting buddies.
He was predeceased by his sister Ethel Massie; brother-in-law, Keith; mother and father-in-law, Al and Ethel Bishop.
Born in Mission, BC to the late Charlie and Amy Joiner, he moved to Chilliwack with his family in 1946 where his parents started C&A Mink Ranch, and resided there for the rest of his life. Gwyn and his brother Lawrence took over the family farm when their parents retired. When Gwyn retired from mink farming he and Diane started a veggie stand. In 2008, he finally retired and purchased land and built his dream fishing cottage in Winter Harbour, BC.
Gwyn’s great joy was in his grandchildren and teaching them to fish. He loved the outdoors and his two passions were fishing and hunting which he was able to enjoy right up to his last week.
He was an honorary life member and past president of the Chilliwack Fish and Game Protective Association and an active member of the executive. Gwyn participated in many fish and wildlife enhancement activities and served on the board of directors of the Fraser Valley Salmon Society.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Gwyn’s life to be held Saturday, September 15 at 1:00pm at the Best Western Hotel, Chilliwack.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gwyn’s memory may be made to the Lung Association, BC Wildlife Federation or the Chilliwack Fish and Game Protective Association.
