(Feb. 11, 1984 – Sept. 11, 2012)

Madeline and Roger Downie of Kamloops, BC are profoundly saddened to report the sudden loss of their daughter Reagan Lee Downie aged 28 years, seven months.

Complications with pneumonia took our special girl peacefully in her slumber with mom and dad beside her through the night holding her as she passed.

Left to mourn are Uncle Paul and Aunt Donna Downie (Carson), and Aunt Thelma Downie of Winnipeg; Aunt Frances Stappleton (Downie) and Uncle Dave Stappleton of Kenora, Ontario; Uncle Michael and Aunt Rita Drysdale (King) of Winterset, Iowa, USA; Phyllis and Tom Nagle of Alamo, California; and cousins Stewart and Darlene Adams of Abbotsford, BC; and Diane and Linda Freudenberg of Vallejo, California.

Reagan’s extended family include all those at Arcus Community Resources and staff including all those at their Rainbow Ridge residential home in Maple Ridge, BC Reagan’s happy place for the past ten years. Also a fond remembrance of all those outside caregivers, teachers, doctors and specialists in Vancouver, Coquitlam and Chilliwack who knew Reagan and loved her.

Also a special thank you to all of Reagan’s care givers at Ridge Meadows Hospital who took part in Reagan’s life and passing and for treating her parents with compassion at this difficult time.

A private memorial service is to be held Friday, September 14, 2012 at Rainbow Ridge at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed at the Kamloops Foundation, Box 15, Kamloops, BC V2C 5K3 Canada where the family has created the Reagan Lee Downie Legacy Fund in honor of her memory. All funds are held in trust in perpetuity with future earnings going forward to other families attending to those with disabilities.
