Raymond Joseph Charlton

February 22, 2007

July 31, 1957 - February 22, 2007

Following a warrior’s lifetime battle with drug addiction, Raymond passed away peacefully in Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 49 years with his mother by his side.

Raymond was born in Olds Alberta the eldest son of Cpl John (Jack) and Evelyn Charlton. CFB Chilliwack and Camp Petawawa were his childhood neighborhoods. He was confirmed in the Anglican faith at All Sappers Church CFB Chilliwack in 1970. His battle with drugs began in his early teen years and stayed with him his entire life. Though he fought bravely and valiantly at times, the hold was too strong to conquer for long.

He was predeceased by his brother Lorne Kenneth in 1959 and his father John (Jack) in 1973.

He is survived by his son Cory Raymond Yon. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Evelyn, sisters Arlene (Carl) DeBruin, Valerie (Phil) Miner and Carolyn (Heath) Fletcher, his 3 nephews, his very special friend Mary Ann Charlton and many others.

A special thank you to Dr. Brody, all the nurses at CGH especially nurses Lynn and Patty and all the people over the years that encouraged Raymond during the battle.

Raymond’s faith in God was intact to the end of the battle. A memorial will be held at St. Thomas Anglican Church on March 16th @2pm. Reverend John Sovereign will be officiating. Everyone who knew Raymond is encouraged to attend.
