Frank Raymond Jones passed away September 11, 2008 in the Chilliwack General Hospital. He was 92.
Ray was born in Horsefly, BC. When he was seven, his family relocated to Victoria where he later attended what was then Victoria College and graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Mining Engineering.
After a very successful career in mining, which took him from British Columbia, to New York State, to Northern Ontario, Ray retired to McKinley Lake, near his birthplace in the Cariboo, where he had designed and built an A-frame log house. This was home for the next 30 years, except for the winter months when he retreated to Agassiz.
Ray is survived by his wife of 67 years, Yvonne; three sons: Neil, Scott, and Chris; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Ray’s name to The Cancer Research Society Inc., 305 – 200 Isabella St, Ottawa ON K1S 1V7.
