Rachel SCHUMAN

November 15, 2002

On November 15, 2002 Rachel Schuman passed away at the Chilliwack General Hospital.

Rachel was born May 21, 1924 in Yorkton, Sask. She was the youngest daughter of Henry and Katie Burkard and a sister to four brothers and two sisters.

Rachel spent her growing years in Yorkton, Sask., and then moved to Regina to work for the Regina General Hospital. While in Regina she met and married Albert Schuman. In 1945 she and Albert moved to Archerwill, Sask. where they tried their luck at farming. In 1946 they had their first born, Dale. In 1947 they moved to Flin Flon, Man. And in 1954 they had their second child, Brian.

Rachel worked for the Flin Flon General Hospital for a number of years. In 1981 she and Albert retired and made their new home in Chilliwack.

Rachel’s love was her family, her home, her flower gardens and her handmade creations which she made for all of her family and for charity.

Rachel was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Albert; her two sons, Dale (Brenda) of Chilliwack, and Brian (Joanne) of Snow Lake, Man. Also her four grandchildren; her three great-grandchildren; her sister Leah of Toronto, Ont.; her brother Jack of Yorkton; and her nieces, nephews and friends.

Rachel was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Katie Burkard; brothers, Albert, Fred and Henry; and her sister Katie.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all the nurses and staff on the 4th Floor who took care of Rachel, and a very special thank you to Dr. Noble, and Dr. Locht.
