December 8, 1940 - June 19, 2020
A wonderful child of God has entered the Kingdom of Heaven.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dearest mother Purita Santa Cruz - the Matriarch of the family. A mother who loved her children and grandchildren where they came first and foremost.
Mom was born in Davao, Philippines and married her husband, Jesus "Boots" Santa Cruz from Manila, Philippines. They were married on Dec. 10, 1960 and together they had 8 children. Following her heart and intuition, mom and dad moved the family to Vancouver in mid 70's. The first year was hard, but faith brought the family to Chilliwack where mom's skills and passion landed her a position at the CGH Food Service dept. and later transferred to the Heritage Village where she retired after 27 years of service. Mom loved cooking, music, gardening, travelling, nature and the great outdoors. With her gift of love and hospitality, you always felt welcome. Her door was always open. Her smile and infectious laughter could make friends near and far. Fear never held back her endeavours because mom believed that perseverance always prevails. With a strong faith that fueled her heart, she was most happy passionately cooking delicious meals that united the family and friends to the kitchen table.
Mom continuously instilled wisdom, forgiveness and love to her children.
She had a beautiful heart. Whenever she was in a room, her love adorned on others and brought out the good in people. She was always kind, happy, laughing and ensuring everyone was fed. Her beautiful traits were gifts of seeds that will live on within us and will blossom in perpetuity and will be cherished by others. Mom's love will infinitely grow beyond us and will never diminish.
Mom went to be with her Lord and Saviour and joined her husband Boots, her eldest daughter Joni, and daughter in law Tracey.
Purita is survived by her children and grandchildren. Mom, your legacy will forever live on. You will be loved and sorely missed forever.
Eternal rest grant unto Purita, O' Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her.
Due to covid restrictions, a private family funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Chilliwack, BC or at a cancer agency of your choice.
