Phyllis Helen Eddy was born in Clifton, NB on February 25, 1923 and died in Agassiz, BC on June 11, 2017. Her life centered around her family, friends and abiding faith. She loved and was loved by many who enjoyed her generous hospitality and warm acceptance. While caring for her large and ever growing family, Phyllis was a longtime member of the Leah Rebekah Lodge and the Agassiz United Church. As an active member of the UCW for more than 65 years, Phyllis served tea and provided delicious home baking whenever needed. She was an ardent gardener, dedicated bird watcher and formidable Scrabble player. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Jim in 1977, infant brother Farren, parents Gus and Emily, sister Bud (Georgina), son Frank, grandson Larry, and son-in-law Al Harrison. She is survived by six children: Georgina Harrison, Jim Eddy (Margie), Helen Eddy (Tom), Kathy Gnapp (Larry), Pat Manning (Dave), and Dan Eddy (Judy), and daughter-in-law Elaine Eddy. Phyllis had 23 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild all of whom adored her and who were adored by her in return. She had numerous nieces and nephews who all lovingly called her “Aunty Phyl”. She was ‘Grandma Eddy’ to several generations of children from the community who often visited her at her home where she welcomed them with chocolate chip cookies, a listening ear, and wise counsel. Phyllis touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew her. A celebration of Life will be held in the Agassiz United Church (6860 Lougheed Highway) on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Tea, lovingly served by the UCW, to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, please remember Phyllis by having a cup of tea and a visit with a new or long-time friend. Donations to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C. in memory of Phyllis would be appreciated.
