Aug. 4, 1936 – Feb. 13, 2010
Peter went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 13, 2010 after a blessed life. Peter will be remembered and missed dearly by Tina, his loving wife of almost 51 years, by his children Tony (Kelly), Nancy (John) Ouwerkerk, Diane (Harold) Van de Kamp, Yvonne (Arnold) Taekema, Jim (Karen), 21 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Peter was born in the town of Lopik, The Netherlands, where he met and married his sweetheart Tina. Shortly after their wedding, they immigrated to Canada. In 1967, they began dairy farming in Chilliwack. Peter enjoyed many activities besides his work including fishing, camping, skiing, golfing, square dancing, and – most of all – spending time with his family. He was also actively involved in his local church and he lived his life in service to his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
After a lengthy struggle with Parkinson’s, Peter passed away peacefully in the Chilliwack General Hospital. A special thanks to Dr. Oostenbrink and all the nurses on the fifth floor for their compassionate care.
A celebration of Peter’s life will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2010 1:30 PM at Cornerstone Christian Reformed Church in Chilliwack.
Donations, in Peter’s memory, can be made to Unity Christian School.
