Patrick Roper, of Chilliwack, BC passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 16th in his home.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, December 10, 1936, to Frank and Mary Roper, Patrick was one of four children. Patrick enjoyed many years as a Deck Hand/Quarter Master sailing The Great Lakes, the Caribbean and from San Diego up to Alaska. He loved his job but always enjoyed his time on shore spending time with his family and friends.

He was a member of the Elks Club for many years and in recent years helped out regularly at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen.

He enjoyed playing pool, fishing and was a big hockey fan. He was a dedicated fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and spent many nights watching games and cheering them on.

Patrick was recently blessed with his first grandchild, Easton, and was able to spend time playing with him and sitting him on his lap to watch hockey. He was overjoyed with his new grandson and was excited to watch him grow up.

Patrick is survived by his wife Judy, his daughter Erin, son-in-law Stephen and grandson Easton; his cousins in England whom he became quite close with in the last 10 years, Tony Roper and Frank Roper; and his in-laws in Cranbrook, BC, Becky and Terry Goddard, Tom and Annamarie Gray, Heather Cavanaugh, and many nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00, Friday August 21st at the Salvation Army Church in Chilliwack.
