It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing away of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Pamela VanderWaal.
Pam passed away in her own home at the age of 77 years, surrounded by family; Sunday Oct 10, 2021.
Our mother is survived by her children; Stan and Wilma VanderWaal, Virginia and Henk Mulder, Tonia and Bert Van Hierden, Sharon and Sam Klaassen, Julia and Blaine Meissner, John and Cathy VanderWaal, Mary Hofstede, Gary and Suzanna VanderWaal, Henk and Julia VanderWaal, Louise VanderWaal, 41 grandchildren and 61 great grandchildren.
Pam was predeceased by her parents, her husband John, 2 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters.
Pam was born in Mineola, New York, on September 20, 1944 the youngest of 3 children. She met her husband John in New Jersey, they were married on September 28th 1962. Together they moved to Iowa where Mom and Dad had a dairy farm. They immigrated to Rosedale, B.C. in 1976 with 7 children. There they had 3 more children. They were privileged to celebrate 50 years of marriage together.
Mom was a devoted wife and mother, she also assisted Dad in running the business, gardening, and helping edit the church bulletin.
Mom had a beautiful voice and loved to sing in the church choir. She also loved to volunteer at care homes and at the hospital thrift shop, she brought joy to many over the years. She will be remembered for her kindness, care and thoughtfulness to others; and her sense of humour.
Opportunity to offer drive by condolences will be from 7 - 8:30 pm on Thursday Oct 14th at the entrance of Bethel Netherlands Reformed Church. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday October 15th at Bethel Netherlands Reformed Church, with Rev. P. Van Ruitenburg officiating. Interment to follow at Chilliwack Cemetery for family only following the service.
Many thanks to Rev. Van Ruitenburg and the consistory for their care and support. Thanks to Mom's many friends; she treasured her time with you all. Also thanks to Dr. Hirst and the palliative team for their care of mom.
