Otto Woldike SANDERGAARD

July 15, 2004

July 15, 2004 was a beautiful day for Otto Sandergaard to pass through the gates of glory. He passed away in Chilliwack, B.C. at the age of 67 years. Born on May 8, 1937 in Usserod Denmark and a very proud Canadian for 44 years.

Otto is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Merle. His children Gitte of Chilliwack, Kurt of Mission, and grandsons Evan and Cole. His two sisters, Ingrid (Kaj) Kvetney and Greta Thestrup, both of Denmark.

His family was his love and life and he gave his time and talents endlessly to anyone who needed them. His toys and furniture from his workshop were enjoyed and treasured by many. Neighbours up and down the block would always come with problems only Otto could solve. Especially close to him were his two grandsons, with whom he shared his love of the outdoors and his woodworking talents.

Otto immigrated to Saskatoon, Sask. from Denmark in 1960, to work as a journeyman carpenter. Otto married Merle Welch in 1962 and came to Chilliwack with their two children in 1971 where he built a home for his family. Otto worked as a carpenter until a disabling accident in 1984. He continued to use his skills and talents with wood, turning out countless unique and precious projects through the years. His love of family, life, nature, gardening, and woodwork is evident all around us.

He was predeceased by his parents, Einar and Agnes Sandergaard, and nephew Lasse, all of Denmark.

A service of remembrance will be held July 22, 2004 at 1:30 p.m., Woodlawn Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack, B.C.

He will be Forever Loved.
