Sadly, Olaug Rantis passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 at Chilliwack, BC at the age of 85 years. She was born in Spalding, Saskatchewan on April 2, 1923.
Olaug is survived by her brothers: George (Ruby) Gudbranson, Parksville, BC; Eddie Gudbranson, Sudbury, Ont.; Stanley (Irene) Gudbranson, Ottawa, Ont.; and Harold (Joyce) Gudbranson, Chilliwack, BC; as well as her sisters: Clara Murphy, Peterborough, Ont.; Ruby Henry, Onaping, Ont.; Elsie Caldwell, Chelmsford, Ont.; and Linda Zaharuk, Chilliwack, BC. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, in particular her two nieces and Godchildren, Karen and Stephanie Zaharuk.
Olaug was predeceased by her husband, Charles Rantis; her sisters Eileen Kirkwood, Maple Ridge, BC and Ruth English, Peterborough, ON. and her parents Christian and Karen Gudbranson.
Olaug was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #280, Vedder, BC and also belonged to the Federal Superannuates National Association (FSNA).
She was a wonderful quilter producing items superior in quality and artistic design and sewed and crocheted beautiful linens. She also enjoyed playing cards, dice games and visiting with friends and family.
A Memorial Service will be held at Henderson’s Funeral Home, Chilliwack, BC on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity would be greatly appreciated. She will be sadly missed by all.
A special thanks to Dr. Fitzpatrick and his staff for the wonderful care provided to Olaug. Also kudos to Home Support Staff, Home Care Staff, hospital staff and all other medical staff that contributed to the gentle care of Olaug.
