Norman Roy Capnerhurst


We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our father Norman Roy Capnerhurst on Dec. 29, 2004. Norm passed away in Kamloops after a brief illness. Norm was born on April 28, 1913 to George and Ellen Capnerhurst in Darcy, Saskatchewan. He is survived by his second wife Agnes, his children Yvonne Driscoll, Norma (Reuben) Manweiler, Leona (Ken) Taylor, Carol (Allen) McLean, Wayne (Linda), Bryan (Maryanne), Ken, and Kevin (Anne) and their mother Jeanne. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kathryn Ray, Rick Driscoll, Lynette Smith, Darren Manweiler, Wes Perry, Jacqueline Perry, Lorne Taylor, Cheryl Arnold, Angie Brodman, Alana McLean, Ryan Capnerhurst and Greg Capnerhurst, Amber and Amy Capnerhurst, Breanne and Brittany Capnerhurst, and Jordan and Kendy Capnerhurst. His great-grandchildren are Kaden Ray, Connor Driscoll, Justin, Aaron, Brendan and Tanner Smith, Terrell and Erika Manweiler, Stephen and Sienna Perry, Kailey Arnold, Rylee Brodman and Max Capnerhurst. Roy is also survived by one brother Ralph and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers George, Harvey and Stan, two sisters Olive and Ivy, and his daughter Lynne Perry. Norman spent his early years in and around Fiske, Saskatchewan and then moved north to the Turtle Lake area where he met and married Jeanne Racicot in October of 1938. Norm and Jeanne and their family moved around Canada, taking them wherever there was work in Norm’s field of employment (welding and auto body repair). They spent time in Ontario, Alberta, and finally settling in B.C., first in the lower mainland and then in 100 Mile House. Norm moved back to the lower mainland in the early 70’s and settled in until his move to Kamloops in April of 2004.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 46024 Riverside Drive, Chilliwack. Interment will take place at the Hatzic Cemetery on Cemetery Road in Mission.
