Norman Ralph Bussey passed away peacefully at the age of 69 with his family and friends at his bedside in Chilliwack General Hospital on March 14, 2013. Norman was a previous prostate cancer survivor, however was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on November 7, 2012, which took him far too early. Norman was born in Montreal Quebec on May 17, 1943 and was predeceased by his mother Violet Bussey and his father William Bussey. Norman is survived by his sons Mark and Dean Bussey, his brother Brian Bussey and his wife Ginny Bussey and his nephews Andy, Paul and Phillip Bussey. Norman had a cheerful and bright personality and brought a smile to all those he touched. He was a kind, generous and caring man who despite his own medical challenges still sought out to help others. He befriended many people since moving to Chilliwack in 1996, and made a difference in their lives. He will be missed. Especially important to him was his close friend Grace Furphy. Her kindness, compassion and love for Norman knew no bounds, and he often referred to her as a godsend. She was a true friend and companion for Norman during his time of crisis. She stayed with him by his side holding his hand right up to the time he passed. The family wishes to thank Dr. Vello Noble, and the nursing staff at Chilliwack General Hospital who did everything they could to help him and make him comfortable. Norman was retired after working for Molson Breweries for 30 years. Norman was an electrician by trade, and later moved on to become a maintenance supervisor after transferring to BC from Montreal.

He had many hobbies and kept busy volunteering in a variety of activities including participating in the Alzheimer’s walk. Norman loved to walk on the rotary trail, and could often be seen sitting by the Chilliwack river.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation towards Pancreatic Cancer research, so that we may find a cure for this horrible disease. Norman did not wish to have a funeral service, however a service will be held at Norman’s final resting place Vedder View Garden Cemetery 44675 Watson Road Chilliwack BC on Thursday March 21, 2013 at 10:00 am.
