January 14, 1954 - December 18, 2019
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Norm on December 18, 2019, at Holmberg House in Abbotsford British Columbia. Norm will be missed by his loving wife Blanche, and a host of children, grandchildren and siblings.
Norm lived the first 35 years of his life in Calgary, Alberta where he attended S.A.I.T. and the University of Calgary. He worked in commercial and industrial construction industries as a Superintendent, involved with several notable projects such as the Suncor Energy Center and Bow Valley Square and the Haida Gwaii Hospital in Queen Charlotte, BC.
A move to the Greater Vancouver area in 1989 saw him continuing with his construction career before and after spending twelve years working in the Life Insurance Industry. Norm achieved his Registered Employee Benefits Consultant designation and specialized in the group insurance and group retirement markets.
Throughout his adult life, Norm was an active volunteer and member of many organizations. Including Scouts Canada, The Rotary Club of Chilliwack, The Union Gospel Mission of Vancouver, and most recently The Salvation Army in Abbotsford.
Norm was an accomplished musician, sportsman and outdoors enthusiast. He was known for his dry sense of humour, leadership, generosity, evangelism, calm demeanour and wit. All these qualities left an impression on everyone he met.
A memorial service for Norm will be held at First Avenue Christian Assembly, 46510 1st Ave. Chilliwack, BC, at 11 am on Saturday, January 4, 2020. In place of flowers, donations to the Union Gospel Mission of Vancouver and The Salvation Army in Abbotsford will be graciously received.
