Nora Mary Humphrey passed away suddenly of a heart attack on August 4, 2010 at the age of 89 years while vacationing in Scotland.
Nora was born in New Westminster, BC. She attended school in Cloverdale and graduated from St. Paul’s Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Later she attended UBC and became a public health nurse. Over the years she worked for the Victorian Order of Nurses, the Public Health Department and a private nursing home.
Nora and her husband Ken married in 1951 and lived in Surrey, Quesnel and Revelstoke before retiring to Chilliwack, BC. Their retirement was filled with visits to grandchildren and extended family, volunteer service, worldwide travel and hobbies including bridge, lawn bowls, and curling.
Nora is survived by her brothers and sisters Marg, Geoff, Eileen, Art and Bev; her sister-in-law Noreen; her daughters and sons-in-law Patricia and Perry, Kathleen and Alan and Lori and Frank. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, Brian (and wife Silke), Ross, Jane, Nick, Christina, Alex, Scott and David and one great-grandchild Cedric. Nora will be missed by extended family in BC, Washington USA, Alberta, Manitoba and England.
A Celebration of Life tea will be held at 11:30am on Saturday August 21, 2010 in the Ballroom at the Coast Chilliwack Hotel, 46920 First Avenue, Chilliwack, BC.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations may be made in Nora’s name to a charity of the donor’s choice.
