Born in Point Rosie, (Enragee), Newfoundland, September 9, 1930, the youngest of 7 children.

As a young boy, he worked at inshore fishing and later worked on a dredge before moving to Halifax. There he worked various jobs before joining the Canadian armed forces on June 1952. First Infantry (highland regiment), then as a cook.

Nelson travelled extensively in the military, Germany, Cyprus, Egypt, Alert and all across Canada. He was well liked by everyone he met. He was a social man with a great sense of humour.

Dad was very proud of his military service of 25 years, plus 12 years as a civilian employee of Base Foods, and a NATO veteran.

He was a devoted husband and father predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Lorena. Survived by his only child daughter Suzanne, and predeceased by his parents, and 6 siblings.

Family and friends may pay their respects at Henderson's Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Avenue on Wednesday, May 16 from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M.

The Funeral Service will be held at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 46060 Gore Avenue on Thursday, May 17 at 10:30 A.M. Reception to follow at St. Thomas Anglican Church.
