It is with great sadness that Mac’s family said their final goodbyes at home on September 5, 2012.
Mac was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan and moved with his family to Chilliwack in 1948. He began working for the Chilliwack School District immediately following high school graduation (Class of ’55) where he spent his entire career with many years as Custodial Supervisor. He enjoyed all aspects of his job, and treasured working with all those around him. After his retirement, Mac continued to devote his time and energy to his church community (Community of Christ) and family.
Mac was pre-deceased by his parents, Nels and Zella; and two brothers: Cecil and Ken. He leaves behind his loving wife Marie of 53 years; three children: Alan, Colleen and Leah; four grandchildren: Taylor, Renae, Benjamin and Nathan; as well as many
nieces, nephews and friends.
Mac’s family wishes to thank Dr. Paul Taylor and the Renal team at St. Paul’s Hospital, as well as Dr. Ron Bull and the Home Health nurses in Chilliwack for their outstanding support.
A celebratory service and reception will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at
2:00 pm at the Chilliwack Middle School (46354 Yale Rd.) In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to World Accord, or to the Samish
Island Campground.
Mac loved life and found it hard to say goodbye. We were blessed to have known him as a husband, father, grandpa, uncle and friend. Papa, keep whistling…we’re listening for you.
