October 23, 1928 - November 1, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Nancy Rigby. She gently passed away at the Bradley Center Nov. 1, 2019 in her 91st year, with her family by her side. Nancy was born in Vernon, B.C. & with her sister Mary, grew up on their parent's orchard farm in Lavington & Winfield. Nancy led an active life working on the farm, snow skiing, roller skating, swimming & singing for the troops that were home on leave from W.W. II. At the age of 17 she moved away from home to Kelowna and worked at Fumerton's Dept. Store. 1952 found her living in Chilliwack & working at Eaton's Dept. Store. In 1956 she married her husband of 62 years, Dick Rigby & had her son Bob, in 1957. Some people may remember her working at Eaton's until it closed in 1977, as she made many friends with staff and customers. Not ready to retire yet, Nancy then worked at People's Jewelers at the Cottonwood Mall from 1977 to 1987 when she finally did retire. Nancy will be remembers by her sweet kindness, her cheery disposition & her generous heart. She always put others before herself. As a mother & grandmother, she was second to none & will be missed dearly.
She is predeceased by her parents Robert & Gladys, her sister Mary & her husband Dick (2018). She is survived by her son Bob (Kerry) & grandson Richard.
Through the years of working retail in Chilliwack, Nancy touched the lives of countless people & befriened many of them. In her private life she was quiet & enjoyed the company of immediate family the most & therefore has requested no service. The family would like to thank Dr. Esau for his patience & care that he gave Nancy & a very special thank you to the entire staff at the Bradley Center for their love, devotion & quality of care that they showed her. You were all very special to her.
