1925-2010

Murdece Enid Pyvis passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2010 in Chilliwack, B.C. at the age of 84. She was born June 17, 1925 in Edmonton, AB. Murdece is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Gordon Pyvis; her daughter and son-in-law, Joene & Evan Parker; granddaughters Lynnette (Jim), Jennifer (Garret), Kendra and grandson Lance (Nette). Murdece is also survived by her 6 great-grandchildren: Jorja, Andrew, Wyatt, Baby Pittet (due Feb 25/10), Sarah & Parker.

During her youth, Murdece lived in many communities: Edmonton, Vanderhoof & Burnaby, before moving to Chilliwack at the age of 13. She attended Chilliwack High School and graduated with the class of ’43. On July 20, 1944, Murdece married the love of her life, Gordon. Together, with his parents, Bill & Mabel Pyvis, the couple operated the Shell Oil bulk plant on Yale Road. Gord & Murdece sold the plant in 1975 and retired in Canmore, Alberta. Murdece adored the Rocky Mountain setting and spoke often of its beauty. Gord & Murdece took pleasure in their retirement and found enjoyment and good friends in their winter getaways to Arizona & Hawaii. The couple returned home to Chilliwack in 1986.

Murdece found great joy in her life through her talents and hobbies: curling, painting, leatherworking, jewellery creations and crocheting. She also enjoyed providing care for her granddaughters Lynnette & Jennifer and more recently her great-grandchildren Jorja & Andrew with whom she loved imparting her passions for art and music.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cascade Hospice who were so wonderful to Murdece! The care that you gave her and the comfort you provided the family were remarkable.

A private family memorial is to be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully appreciated for the Cascade Hospice Society.
