With deep sorrow and much love, we mourn the passing of our beautiful Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma on September 11, 2021.
Miriam was born and raised in Chilliwack, she was the youngest daughter of Fred and Hilda Leary. After high school Miriam went to UBC to obtain her teachers certificate. Miriam moved away from Chilliwack when she married "the love of her life", Allan Ruttan in 1962.
After raising their family Miriam and Allan returned to Chilliwack where Miriam taught at Central School, the school she had once attended.
After a few years in Chilliwack, it was decided to move to Cultus Lake. The old Leary family cabin was torn down, Miriam and Allan built their pre retirement home. Miriam was so proud to have their home at the lake, be part of the community and teach at Cultus Lake community school.
Allan was the love of Miriams life, they shared a true love story. It is only natural that Miriam followed her Allan to heaven only 4 months after he left us.
Miriam leaves behind many wonderful memories and her four children, Karen(Garth), Brenda(Paul), Heather(Carl) and Ross (Kelly). She also leaves six grandchildren, Breanna, Graham, Tyler, Sarah, Makayla and Kyle and one great grandson, Sawyer.
The family will have a private family Celebration of Life for both Miriam and Allan in the near future.
