Michael was born in Ireland on Dec. 22, 1928. He passed away peacefully on July 19, 2003 at Chilliwack General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; brothers: Henry (Mary), Tom, Hugh and many nieces and nephews in Ireland, and sister, Marcella in New York; children: Laurie (Bob), Fred, David (Shannon), Grant (Anita); nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by parents Frank and Catherine; brother, Frank; and sister, Mary.
Mike came to Canada in 1949 and worked his way across to BC by working at Johns and Manville in Ontario, CN Railway in Northern Manitoba, and BC Hydro, Prince George and the Lower Mainland.
He was a lover of the outdoors and could often be found bicycling, camping, walking or tying to preserve the salmon stock on the Vedder or Fraser Rivers. He was a long-time friend of Bill W.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 8909 Mary St., Chilliwack, July 26, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. with prayers held July 25, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. Fr. Jack Dias celebrant. fnterment in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery.
