Michael James Johnson, 63, passed away on December 15, 2017 at Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack, BC.

Born in Penticton, he was the son of Mary and Bob Johnson and the oldest of three boys.  Mike joined the Canadian military at the age of 18 and spent nine years serving his country.  He earned the rank of Corporal and taught defensive driving and investigated accidents in transport.

During a six week course in Chilliwack, he met Dianne Stone and after a year and a half of dating they were married at the All Sappers Chapel in Chilliwack, on May 24, 1980.  Sara was born a year later, followed by Alexander in 1984 and Hailey in 1986.

Mike was involved in the Chilliwack FC for many years both as a coach and as a board member.  He coached the Chilliwack Roadrunners for 8 years and was an inspiration and a friend to all of the girls he coached. He was heavily involved in the Chilliwack lacrosse league with the Mustangs, performing a wide variety of roles.

Mike enjoyed being outside, camping, fishing, hunting and especially golfing.  Mike will always be remembered as a loving father and a true friend.

Mike is survived by his wife Dianne Stone, his three children Sara Lee (Kyle), Alexander Johnson, Hailey Johnson, his father Bob Johnson, his brothers Ian Johnson (Kari), Mick Johnson (Connie) and family, and his grandchildren Izabella and Adrianna Lee.

A celebration of life will be held at the Ryder Lake Hall on Thursday December 28, starting at 2 pm. We welcome all who knew Mike to come and go.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like any donations to be made to Cascade Hospice.
