July 20, 1942 - July 15, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Hooper, announces his sudden passing on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the age of 78.
Michael is lovingly remembered by his wife of 23 1/2 years, Tina, and will be deeply missed by his son, Sean (Debra), his daughter, Michelle (Colin), and his grandchildren, Cole, Wade, Heather, and Audrey, as well as his first wife, Carole.
Michael will be fondly remembered as a dad who took his kids skiing and on boating adventures, made tacos for dinner and said "yes" to"Pop Tarts" for breakfast. In his later years Michael enjoyed his morning walks, reading, travelling, spending time with his beloved wife, Tina, keeping up with sports and visiting with his family. Michael's restless spirit, range of skills, and willingness to take risks, gave him a richly varied life, in spite of the hardships he encountered.
He built a house for his young family on Passage Island, drove a boat to and from the mainland daily and during that time, volunteered with the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He made the unconventional choice to move to Kitsault, BC where he joined a molybdenum mining team, he then put on a pair of cowboy boots for a move to North Battleford, Saskatchewan, to take on the role of Service Manager in a Massey Ferguson Agricultural Machine dealership. Later, he chose to live aboard "Uncle Albert" a houseboat, for a few years. For the majority of his career, Michael was a well respected Service Manager in the automotive business and in his last years worked in the Parts and Service Department at Canadian Tire Chilliwack, until his retirement.
Michael has gone too soon, but will live on in the lives and memories of his family.
A special "thank you" to the staff at the Vedder Esso, the attending paramedics, and Cst. Myles.
