It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Matthew Wayne Andersen in Chilliwack General Hospital on February 15, 2011. While walking home from work on October 17, 2008, Matt was struck from behind by an SUV. He lost one leg and became a paraplegic due to this accident. Among many other problems that he incurred, his suffering was great.

Even with all his injuries, he had a awesome attitude he was upbeat and hopeful, giving his family and friends inspiration. Matt was born on May 27, 1986 and lived here all his life. He attended Tyson Elementary School and graduated from Sardis Senior Secondary. Following school, he worked in a nursery for a year and then he moved on to Stream. He enjoyed anything to do with electronics, computers as well as many game systems. His plans were to become a physiotherapist on a Cruise Ship earning and saving enough money to go to Dental School.

Matt was predeceased by his father Ted Andersen, grandmother Anne Cherrille, grandfathers Wayne Aitkenhead and Edward Andersen; great-grandparents, Tom and Margaret Aitkenhead and uncle Jamie McMillan.

Matt was a wonderful son, great brother and friend. He will be lovingly missed by his mother, Tracy Andersen; brothers, Steven (Trez) Andersen and Kris VandenBrink, his right hand man Kent Reid; nephews, Kaden and Auron; niece Phoenix, uncle Vince Aitkenhead, auntie Jude McMillan, Oma (Irene) & Opa (Bill) VandenBrink, grandmother Vivian Andersen and his best bud Guillermo Rodriquez , and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Matt’s life will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 1:30 pm at the Masonic Hall, 45905 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack, BC .

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, 938 West 28th Ave, Vancouver, BC. V5Z 4H4.
