We are saddened to announce the passing of Mary (Hiebert) Wiebe (nee Derksen) into the presence of her Lord after a difficult struggle with ALS. Mary was born June 5th, 1937 in Blumenort, Sagradovka, South Russia. She immigrated to Canada in 1948 at the age of 11 with her parents Abram "Helmut" Derksen and Maria Goertzen and siblings Lydia and Henry.
She held a great many volunteer positions over the years including 14 years in the Hospital Service League, was President for 2 terms as Hospital Board Chair, being in charge of the Chilliwack Beauty Pageant, keeping the church seniors joyfully occupied and being leader of the Pioneer Girls Club. Mary owned and operated the 'Mary Clark Flower Shop' (Best in the Blooming Business) in Chilliwack for 20+ years. Mary' flower shop door was always open to anyone that needed to talk.
Mary is survived by her loving husband Marvin, her beloved children Sandra Massie (Ken) and Grant Hiebert (Cindy) and her sister Lydia Engel, 10 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren. Stepchildren: Pam Brundson, Mickey Wiebe, Kathie Wiebe, 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Aaron (Ron) in 1992, her daughters Angela in 1955 and Bonita in 1957 and brother Henry Derksen in 2001 and stepdaughter Melody in 2009 .
Heartfelt thanks go to the dedicated doctors, nurses and staff at the Menno Hospital in Abbotsford who treated Mary with such care. Special thanks go to the ALS Society for equipping her with the tools that contributed to her comfort and enjoyment while she valiantly fought this disease.
