September 2, 1930 - May 3, 2020
We are deeply saddened to say our dearly beloved mom, Mary Regehr, was called home to be with her Lord, peacefully in her sleep, Sunday, May 3rd at the Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 89. Mary was born in Steinfeld, Ukraine on September 2nd, 1930 and was fortunate to be able to be given the opportunity to travel to Canada in 1948.
She will forever be in our hearts and dearly missed by her two children, her son Peter, her daughter Lauri (Steve), grand children, Duncan, Nicholas, Jaclyn, Charlene and great grandchildren Jayna and Jaxson. She is survived by her sister Margaret and her brother Henry, and many other family that loved her dearly. Mary was predeceased by her husband John in 1989, her daughter in law Marietta in 2012 and her parents John and Helen Janzen, her brother Peter, her sisters Helene and Agnes, and her brother John.
Mary spent countless hours volunteering at the MCC, and always willingly helping in the church for whatever she was asked to do. Mary was very proud of her work making quilts for the less fortunate and always took pride in the quilts she made. She loved to spend time in the garden and was out in the garden as much as possible. Mary's most important treasures were her family, and her grandchildren will always remember all the special 'Oma' times that only an Oma can give. Auf wiedersehen, "until we see you again".
A private graveside burial will be held on May 11th with a Celebration of life to be held for Mary at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MCC.
