Forever loved Mary Fleck Burns Sinclair Leach Mills mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie and friend to many; gracefully went to be in the arms of Jesus on October 3, 2009.
Mary was born in Glasgow July 06, 1929. She is pre-deceased by her best friend and mother Harriet, her loving father William and Mary’s brother Albert.
Mary is survived by her brothers and sisters: John, Jean (Ivor), Stewart, Margaret, Henry (Charlotte), Etta and Jim (Nancy). Forever beloved mother she is survived by her children: Lindy (Stephen), Lisa (Darwin), Marion, Simon (Jennifer), Sue (Emily) and Christopher (Lori). Mary is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins including many friends.
Mary along with her family immigrated to Canada in 1976. Mary was a staunchly independent woman. Prior to moving to Canada Mary worked in a Publishing Firm in Glasgow and upon arrival in Chilliwack Mary became the owner of the Oventop Bakery. Mary was a long standing member of the Chilliwack Senior Veterans Society and enjoyed spending time with her many friends. Throughout her life Mary had the beautiful gift of acceptance and demonstrated her joy of life with an always ready sense of humor for all those who knew her. Mary was the touchstone of her family and could be counted on by her family and friends to be there for them whenever needed. Mary role modeled her life with integrity, honesty and was extremely generous, donating and volunteering with various charities throughout her life. Mary also worked with people in long term care and visited with many people receiving palliative care.
Please join her family in a celebration of her life to be held on October 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Cheam Lions Hall, 45580 Spadina Ave., Chilliwack, with Brenda Jensen officiating. Following the services there will be a gathering (reception) of her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to BC Children’s Hospital.
