Mary GILES

GILES; Mary (nee Sluchinski)

Born September 6, 1924 in Dana, Saskatchewan. Mother passed away on September 23, 2014, peacefully in her own home, just as she always said she would do. She is survived by daughter Linda (Ron) Schilling of Chilliwack, son Douglas of Toronto, brother Jim (Pat) of Bluffton, AB and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alvin in 1982. Mother was one of 13 children and was resourceful and hardworking from an early age. She was making cabbage rolls and banana bread right up until the end, and loved to gift people with her baking. Mother was proud to have reached the age of 90 earlier this month and celebrated with her family by riding the Airtram at Hell’s Gate and walking across the suspension bridge! She was unbeatable at Scrabble, loved the Toronto Blue Jays, read her Bible daily —- and the astrology column as well. Many thanks to Dr. Whittington and staff and to the friends who helped her maintain her independence. Family memorial will be held at a later date.
