1924 -2013

The family of Mary Ellen Coghill are deeply saddened to announce her passing on May 14, 2013. She left this earth as she lived on it, with class and dignity, touching lives as she passed through

Mary was born in Coehill, Ontario on November 20, 1924. She was a proud veteran who served in the Canadian Armed Forces during the war years. She then married and moved to BC, and after her husband’s passing continued working hard and raising their son.

Mary lived in Kelowna for many years before coming to Vancouver Island where she lived in various communities, owned and managed businesses and continued raising her son. After moving to Chilliwack for a few years, she was drawn back to the island, living in Bowser for more than twenty years before her passing.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Marvin “slim” Coghill, - her parents, William and Ethel-Jane McCormack, as well as all seven of her siblings.

She is survived by her son Donald (Denise), her grandsons Justin and Lucas (Jesse), long-time and dearest friends Bert & Lorna Perry, and her constant canine compassion – Sadie.

The family would like to thank the staff at ST. Joseph’s Hospital for taking such great care of Mom in her final weeks of life. A special than-you to Dr. Azer and Nurse Lisa-Dawn, whose gentle and dignified treatment of Mom was a bright light in a difficult time.

In keeping with Mary’s request, there will be no service.

Donations to the Arthritis Society would be much appreciated.
