Mary passed away peacefully on December 7, 2007 at the Bradley Extended Care Centre (Chilliwack Hospital). She was born November 29, 1919 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by husband Bert, married 46 years, her parents Otto B. Tysdale and Agnes Theresa (Loughlin), and Brother John. Son Allan and Geraldine, Sister Rose Cowan of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; several nephews and nieces, survive Mary.
Mary grew up in Mossbank and Briercrest, Saskatchewan. Later, she graduated in Nursing, and worked in Weyburn and Brandon, Manitoba. Married in 1945 she eventually lived in Edmonton and moved to Agassiz in 1959. Since 1965, she has resided in Chilliwack. She was an active environmentalist in the early 1970’s and also became active in the Liberal party- Federal and Provincial- long before it became fashionable, serving in several active positions including President of the Eastern Fraser Valley Associations.
Mary became an honorary life member of the Good Sams. She and husband Bert travelled in their RV across Canada to her roots in Lee Illinois to Cape Cod Massachusetts, the Great Smoky Mountains, to Nashville Tennessee and Branson Missouri.
Since Bert died in December 1992, she lived on her acreage on Fairfield Island- sharing her house with her cat Morris who died naturally only three months ago. She suffered a massive stroke in February 2006, and since then has been taken care of at the Bradley Centre-extended care. The family wishes to thank so much the staff at Bradley Centre for their wonderful care as well as their appreciation to her dearest friends, Gladys and Erik Rorstrom who faithfully and frequently visited Mary.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday December12, 2007 at 1:00 pm from the Chapel at Henderson’s Funeral Home Rev. Dean Anderson Officiating. Internment at Royal Oak Cemetery, Victoria, Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 at 1:00 pm.
