September 6, 1924 - January 18, 2019
Mary "Bernice" Brett, age 94, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born on September 6, 1924, the daughter of Nelson and Mary Short of Chilliwack, BC. She will be forever in the hearts of her three children Linda, Janice and Kerry, and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mom graduated from Chilliwack High School. She then moved to Vancouver to train and graduate as a nurse in 1946 at St. Paul's Hospital. She used her nursing skills in Chilliwack before getting married and having a family.
Mom loved music, especially jazz. Growing up our home was filled with sounds of Oscar, Erroll and Ella! Her uncanny ability to harmonize served her well singing barbershop with Sweet Adelines. Her other passions were gardening and playing bridge. She could never find bridge partners in the last few years, we hope she has now.
The family would like to thank Dr. Laughland and the staff at Valley Haven for all their special care and support.
In order to acknowledge Mom's love of gardens and flowers, the family will celebrate her life in Springtime amidst the early blooms.
