(May 29, 1932 – March 8, 2009)
It is with great sadness, yet a sense of peace, that we announce the passing of our Mom, Mary Beatrice Foss, at the age of 76 years. After a courageous battle with her health, and surrounded by her loving family, Mary slipped away on the morning of March 08, 2009.
Mary is predeceased by her husband, Ken Foss (2005).
She will be sincerely missed by her three daughters: Lynn (Bob) Ritchie of Salmon Arm, Gail (Tom) Cusator of Surrey, and June (Stephen) Peaker of Surrey. Mary will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Lauren, Amy, Kara, Jason, Justin and Lucas.
Mary was born in Sexsmith, Alberta on May 29, 1932. She was raised on the farm, later moving to New Westminster in her teen years. Mary met Ken in high school and they married in 1952. After 14 years at the coast, Mary and Ken moved to Seton Portage, where they operated a general store for three years. They then moved to Lillooet in 1969 and lived there for 20 years.
Mary’s retirement years were spent in Chilliwack, where she enjoyed gardening, golfing, travelling and volunteering at the Chilliwack Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store.
Following Ken’s passing in 2005, Mary resided at Kinsmen Place Lodge in Surrey, where she lived in comfort and security for her last few years.
Mary will always be remembered as an incredibly generous, strong and beautiful lady. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. We know that Mom is now in a better place, where the birds are always singing and the flowers are always blooming…
Mary’s family is truly appreciative of the care and compassion provided by the staff of Kinsmen Place Lodge in Surrey, B.C.
A memorial service will be held on April 25, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home (14660 – 72nd Avenue, Surrey, B.C.).
