Martina Seifert went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 15, 2010 at Chilliwack, BC at the age of 83 years.
Born in Zosen, Austria on October 17, 1926, she was the fourth of seven children. Martina left for Montreal, Canada in 1952 and worked as a nanny. That same year, she met her future husband, George Seifert. They wed in 1954 in Dawson Creek, BC where they lived for 17 years. The following years took them to Vernon, Prince George, back to Vernon and then on to Chilliwack.
Martina was a loving wife and mother to six children. She worked hard to make a home for her family. She volunteered for many years with the Hospital Auxiliary in Vernon and Prince George. Martina enjoyed gardening, knitting and traveling but especially spending time with her family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, George; her children, Katherine (Brian), Peter (Jacquie), Tom (Ruth), Norm, Sonya (Dave) and Sandra (John); grandchildren, Alannah, Lance, Krysta, Brittany, Lindsay, Braden and Adam; and her sisters, Maria and Regina in Austria. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Katherine Hebenstreit, brothers Peter, Martin, and Godfried and her sister, Anna, all who remained in Austria.
A Prayer Service will be held on Monday, September 27th, 2010 at 7:00 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 8909 Mary Street, Chilliwack.
