At Bradley Extended Care Centre, Chilliwack, on June 9, 2007 at the age of 88. Born in Winnipeg, MB. Daughter of the late Frederick Earnest Armstrong and Mary Hill (Ramsey) McKie. Beloved wife of the late Robert Douglas Careter (1933).
Predeceased by her brother, Thomas Armstrong (1993), and her sister, Margaret O’Connor (205). Dearly loved by nieces: Robin O’Connor (Pat Copps), CA, and Maureen Chandler (Keith) Chatham; nephews: Rod (Diane Chatham), and Richard (Amber Leeson) O’Connor, (Calgary); and great-nephews, Craig and Kevin O’Connor, and Caise Chandler (Julie Fair).
Ages worked for the Douglas Aircraft company during WWII and later with the T. Eaton Co. in Winnipeg. She met Bob through her brother Tom before the war, but they did not marry until 1962 after Bob mustered out of the Royal Canadian Navy. They set up house in Haney, where Bob worked at Haney Correctional, Maple Ridge and finally Chilliwack. She was a member of the Branch #88 Royal Canadian Legion and Discovery.
As per Nan’s wishes, there will be a private family service and cremation, and interment with her beloved Bob.
