Marten Maarhuis late of Chilliwack, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at the age of 96. He was born on October 5, 1906 in Loppersum, Groningen, The Netherlands.
He was predeceased by his wife Martje in February of 1996; two infant grandchildren; grandson Adrian Veldman in September of 2002; two brothers; and one sister.
He is survived by children, Henny (Herman) Veldman of Lethbridge, Alta., Wiebo (Erna) Maarhuis of Chilliwack, Ralph (Gertie) Maarhuis of Mission, John (Til) Maarhuis of Chilliwack, and Andy (Jayne) Maarhuis of Chilliwack; 29 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one sister Ge (Hendrick) Oosterveld of The Netherlands.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002 from 7-8:30 p.m. at First Christian Reformed Church, 9800 McNaught Rd., Chilliwack. The memorial service will be held there as well on Friday, Dec. 6, 2002 at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Unity Christian School.
