After living a life of only 18 years, Markus passed away at Canuck Place Hospice in Vancouver and is now experiencing life eternal with Jesus. Even though we are sad and grieved at what death has brought our family, we are so incredibly thankful that Markus died well.
Markus leaves behind his parents Mike and Jennifer, his siblings Kaitlyn and Reuben with baby Mateo, Sara and Aidan with their pre-born baby, Micah, Kayden, and Aaron.
In February 2021 Markus was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, an aggressive type of bone cancer. In March 2022, after 20 rounds of chemotherapy, when it was clear that the cancer was not going to go away, we decided to focus on quality-of-life care and had a wonderful last few months with Markus.
Markus ran a short race. But it was a good race. Markus' final prayer request was that his family would find peace to move on in his absence. We will miss him forever, but we are confident that as he now rests in the literal arms of Jesus, come what may we rest in His arms too. We thank Markus for showing us how to both live well and die well. We will love him forever....to the moon and back, to the moon and back.
