June 27, 1921 - September 22, 2016


Nanny Marj passed into the the Lord's loving embrace while holding her son's hand on September 22, 2016. Her last words to her family were to "Walk in God's light." She will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful Mom, Nanny, Sister, Auntie, Teacher and Friend. During her 95 years she made an enormous impact on BC's Public Education writing the Primary Program Curriculum which educated generations of BC's children. Starting her teaching career at 19 years old, she taught for 41 years and retired as a School Principal. For her work in the profession she was awarded the Confederation Medal during the Nation's Centennial in 1967. She was passionate and full of fun. She served her community at the Cultus Lake Community School. She was a member of the Red Hats and was an honorary life-time member of the BC Primary Teachers Association. She was the longest standing member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Jim, in 1996 after 50 years of marriage. She is survived by her only son Jim (Darlene), grandchildren Jimmy, Taryn, Brianna and Nic and her great-grandchildren James and Kier. She had a special relationship with her sisters, brother, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for October 2 at 1:30 pm at the Cultus Lake Memorial Church.
