nee McDOWELL

Marjorie passed away peacefully in her sleep at Waverly Senior’s Village May 10, 2012 at the age of 102.

Survived by her step-son Dick (Anne), granddaughter Christine (Darren) and great-grandchild Caitlin; granddaughter Heather and great-grandchildren Thomas and Emma together with a sizable group of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews spread all over Alberta, Saskatchewan, and BC, all of whom will miss her greatly.

Marjorie was born Nov 1, 1909 in Shawville, Quebec and moved with her family, as an infant to homestead in SW Saskatchewan. She cared for her mother after high school and graduated from VGH nursing school in 1939. She served in the United Church hospital at Bella Bella for many years and in the late 50’s became a Public Health nurse in Chilliwack with an office at Coqualeetza Hospital. There she met and married Jim Thompson who passed away Nov 12, 1992 after a marriage lasting nearly 30 years.

During her time in Chilliwack Marjorie made a multitude of friendships lasting decades. She was a member of Carmen United Church, the Chilliwack Lace Club, Red Cross, numerous bridge groups and had many friendships during the years she lived at Edenbank & Lynnwood.

We would like to thank every one of the many staff, present and past of Waverly Seniors Village, who gave Marjorie truly loving care and attention.

There will be no service by request. If desired, it would please Marjorie immensely if donations were made in her memory to Children’s Hospital, who saved the life of her only grandson, Thomas.
