Marjorie Christina THOMPSON

(nee York)

Thompson (Kucharski), Marjorie Christina (nee York) (Feb. 25, 1926 – Sept. 15, 2011), passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. Predeceased by her brother John, husband Walter, and second husband Robert Thompson. Lovingly missed by her children Mike (Dale), Wendy (Carl), Gord (Deb), sister Betty, and 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mom was born and raised in Montreal, where she married Dad shortly after WW2, and spent her early years raising a family in Aylmer, Quebec.

At the end of the ’50s, Mom, Dad and we 3 children moved west to BC, settling in Richmond, where Mom worked at Sears for many years. She retired to Cultus Lake in the early ‘80s, and enjoyed local life as well as many miles spent as a traveler and RV enthusiast.

Family, community and church were the cornerstones of Mom’s life. A true matriarch, she presided lovingly over her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She played an integral part in all of their lives, and will continue to live on through them.

Mom will be missed by her family and many friends from all over, and we would like to acknowledge those whose friendship with Mom has endured throughout the years. We would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ross and the staff at Chilliwack Hospital Emergency for their unwavering support during the difficult times.

A celebration of Mom’s life will be held at Cultus Lake Memorial Church on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to World Vision, Salvation Army or Cultus Lake Memorial Church, if you wish.
