Marilyn Elizabeth Gaudette

April 15, 1937 - July 3, 2022
The family of Marilyn Gaudette is saddened to announce her passing at the age of 85. She was preceded by Emil, her loving husband of 50 years. Born in New Westminster, and raised in Sardis, Marilyn came to live with her cousins, Lorna and Cecil Shaw at the age of 10, and was raised alongside their children Sheri Allen and Gordon Shaw.
Marilyn attended Chilliwack Secondary School where she met Emil. She went on to Normal School to become a teacher, and later married Emil in June of 1957.
For the fist years of their marriage she was at home raising Patti, Garth and Glenda. She then went on to teach Kindergarten at CFB and then to Yarrow Elementary to teach Kindergarten. Marilyn was a driving force for Early Childhood programs in Sardis.
Her careers changed as her family's needs changed, and she found herself back in the schools as a Library Assistant at Sardis Secondary School.
Marilyn was a warrior. She was severely injured in a traffic accident in December of 1989, and then worked hard to regain some of her loss. Through it all she remained positive and with a great appreciation for what she was able to do.
Marilyn's biggest joy was her family. She was a mother to three, a grandmother to 9, and a great grandmother to 6. When her family was together her heart was full.
Marilyn is survived by her brother Don Skea, her children, Patti Gaudette Boswell(Russ), Garth Gaudette(Debbie), and Glenda Gaudette(Barry Kornum), her grandchildren Deremie, Drew, Breanna, Adelle, Elizabeth, Alyssa, and Rylee, Spencer, and Andrew, her very special 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mom had amazing care in her home over the past 14 years. We would like to thank Laura, Lourdes, Rowena, Paz and Nida. It was their love and attention that allowed our Mom to stay in her home for all of these years.
There will be a Celebration of Marilyn's life August 5th at 2:00 at Carmen United Church in Sardis.
