It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our Mother (Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend) Germaine.
Germaine was born and raised in McLennan Alberta, raised in Northern Alberta, married to her beloved late husband Eugene Claude Turenne in 1956, and then moved to B.C. in 1964 where Eugene and her raised their family on the Sunshine Coast. In 1992 Germaine and Eugene moved from Gibson's B.C. to Chilliwack to help in the care of their Grandchild - only to grow to love their new home and deciding to stay (and where other family - then followed).
Germaine worked on the BC Ferries for a time, enjoyed many years on a bowling league in Gibson's B.C., enjoyed camping, playing cards, and travelling to see family and friends with her husband. What kept her home - was the abundant love for her Grandchildren and watching them grow. She had a love for shopping (so the "jewellery man" knows) and an unwavering love for cooking (even when she no longer could).
Germaine dedicated her life to that of being an unconditionally loving Mother with an even greater love for her Grandchildren - whom she adored to no end.
Germaine was an extremely loving and generous person who touched the hearts of many - including those people who cared for her and crossed paths with her in the lobby of CGH (those who knew her as "the little lady in the wheelchair wearing the blue summer hat with the little bird on top").
Germaine is predeceased by her Father and Mother Laurier and Laura Maisonneuve. Germaine will be missed by many - especially by that of her 5 children: Donald (Donna), David (Sandy), Susan (O'Neil), Andrew, Denis (Vanessa) and 11 Grandchildren: Alex, Darcy, Michell, Richard, Gilbert, Camille, Caslyn, Terence, Landon, Mila, Simone, and Great Grandchild: Koyia, and her siblings: Norman (Pat), Andre (Fernande), Helene (Gary), Romeo (Julienne), Marcella (Marcel), and Lynn (predeceased by Bill).
On behalf of the family, we would like to thank the Bradley Centre staff of CGH for all your great care over the last 11 years and for those who went "above and beyond" (you know who you are ... and so do we). Thank you for making her smile, laugh, and for giving her peace amongst her 2nd family. Thank you to Dr. Hamilton (you've witnessed and shared our miracles throughout Germaine's "9 lives").
Thank you to the St. Mary's Parish ladies who brought communion and friendship to her every week. You were not only her spiritual stewards, but also her friends / family.
Thank you also to all those who were friends of Germaine or touched her heart over the years.
On Feb 27th, Germaine peacefully fell asleep, and woke up in heaven.
* Memorial Mass was held Saturday March 3rd, 2018 at 1 pm at St. Mary's Parish, Chilliwack B.C.
