August 1, 1922 - March 9, 2019
(Anna) Marie Shaw (nee Overend), age 96, passed away peacefully on March 9th at the Windermere Care Centre in Vancouver.
Marie is survived by her son Ian Shaw (sons Dominic and Danny), daughters Susan Lister, Barbara Allen (children Cera Bollo, Derek Allen, Nicholas Allen), Wendy Toohey (sons Stephen and Trevor), Elaine Shaw and Karen Shaw (son Sacha Goldman). She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph David Shaw and her eldest son Mark David Shaw.
Marie was born Aug 1st, 1922 in Calgary. She graduated as a registered nurse in Calgary and nursed in Calgary, New Zealand and Vancouver. She married Joseph David Shaw in 1950 and raised a family of seven children in Vancouver.
In 1968, she partnered with her husband to open Shaw's Supermarket in Vancouver. She retired to Cultus Lake where she lived before returning to Vancouver in 2017.
A Celebration of life will be held at the Peggy Gunn Woodland Hall, Van Dusen Botanical Gardens, 5251 Oak St., Vancouver at 1 pm on Thursday, April 4, 2019.
